Special: How MIPPA Helps You Boost Coverage Though Extra Help & MSP
Join us on July 9, 2009 or on July 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM Eastern for this special National Center for Benefits Outreach and Enrollment.
Starting in January 2010, pursuant to the Medicare Improvement to Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA), the Social Security Administration will begin transmitting data from Extra Help applications to the States, and State Medicaid Agencies must treat the data as if it constitutes submitted applications for Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs). MIPPA also made available awards totally $25 million nationally to all states to fund enhanced outreach and enrollment initiatives by SHIPs, Area Agencies on Aging and Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs), with the goal of increasing enrollment to precisely the same two benefits. What potential synergy could be created between these two MIPPA mandates? Could significantly expanded access to related benefits (Extra Help and Medicare Savings Programs) among the poorest American populations of elders and adults with disabilities ensue? This Webinar offers an opportunity to discuss these possibilities and to learn more about the relevant MIPPA provisions. Resources Presentation slides MIPPA statute on LIS data transfers starting MSP aplications Extra Help application changes - 2010 opt-out language Guide to online state manuals for Medicaid and more key benefits, Center for the Budget and Policy Priorities View Part 1 of the Webinar recording View Part 2 of the Webinar recording Follow-Up Questions and Answers Here are the questions and answers we did not get to address during this Webinar.
